All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) / Messenger Wire:

Fiber Cables Direct takes phone orders for Messenger Wire and All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) aerial fiber optic cable products.

ADSS is an aerial fiber optic cable that has the strength to support its own weight between structural points without using conductive metallic components. All-dielectric self-supporting fiber is lighter than traditional aerial cables and widely used by electrical utility companies as a high speed data delivery medium. ADSS is generally installed along existing overhead transmission lines usually using the same support structures as the electrical cables but also has been used in duct applications.

Figure 8 Messenger Wire is also a self-supporting aerial fiber optic cable that has the strength to support its own weight between structural points.
